Rangers U18’s had their first victory of the season as they ran riot over their visitors St Ives. As early as the 5th minute Lewis Leckie put the home side in front, and on 28 minutes he scored his second. At this point the traffic was all one way, and Rangers were in total control. On 35 minutes the St Ives custodian made a fine double save to deny Deeping and keep his side in the game, and they then mounted a counter attack. At the other end the St Ives no8 lost his marker and went one on one with Rangers keeper Robbie Virgin, who managed to close the striker down before he could shoot. Just before half time Adam Goodger made it 3 – 0 with a super goal from an acute angle. The second half was 8 minutes old when Tom Flatters got on the score sheet for Rangers and made it 4 – 0. Deeping then seemed to go to sleep as the vistors went straight up the other end and scored a consolation goal to give themselves a lifeline. Five minutes later Goumour scored his second of the game to make it 7 – 1.Rangers then made another change. Joe Fisher came on in place of Adam Goodger. With 10 minutes remaining the rout was completed with a goal from Nicky Butler. Rangers new look U18’s started their League campaign with a home match against St Neots. Deeping were soon on the attack and Lewis Leckie should have scored in the 9th minute, but he fired over the bar from close range. Ten minutes later Leckie had another chance, but again blasted his shot over from close range. It was only a matter of time, and on the half hour Leckie finally broke the deadlock to fire Rangers in front. The lead was short lived and within a minute of the restart St Neots had equalised. The second half was 5 minutes old when Leckie claimed his second to put Rangers back in front, but again they went to sleep and the visitors equalised a minute later. This gave the visitors added impetus and they pressed again for another goal forcing Rangers custodian Robbie Virgin to make a good save when the ball was dipping under the bar. On the hour Virgin again saved well, but he was unable to hold the ball, and a St Neots player was on hand to poke it into the net and give them the lead. Rangers made a substitution taking Spencer Tinkler off and bringing on Joe Fisher. Deeping soon won a penalty when Cardin Pierce-Liverpool was brought down in the St Neots box. Cardin stepped up for the spot kick and slammed the ball into the net to the delight of the home fans. Rangers pressed for a winner in the last 10 minutes but could not make a breakthrough, and had to settle for a point at full time.
