Deeping Rangers reserve team play in the Reserve Division 2 of the Eagle Bitter United Counties League for the 2008/9 season.
Season 2007/8 was a disappointing season for Deeping Rangers Reserves culminating in relegation. So a new season brings a new management team… Darren Jarvis has been appointed manager, he has subsequently appointed existing Rangers player Wayne Oldaker as his player / assistant manager and completes his management team with the appointment of Martyn Watts as coach.
Manager Darren Jarvis had the following comments…
“On a personal level, I’m really excited about the forthcoming season. Opportunities to manage at a club such as Deeping Rangers don’t come around often, so I’m thrilled to have been given this chance. I’ve been involved with Deeping Rangers as a player since I was a youngster, so I hope this is the beginning of a long ‘management’ relationship with Deeping Rangers.”
“We have some excellent youth players at the club, I’m really looking forward to working with Andy Moore and the u18’s. I believe that a reserve team at any club exists for one reason – to support the First Team. That means primarily developing quality youth players, improving them, progressing them towards first team opportunities. Secondary, a reserve team should have players of a level that if called upon by the first team have the required ability to step up and thirdly, the reserve team should provide a professional environment, mirroring the first team, to aid in players returning from injuries and suspensions.”
“I will be looking to drastically improve upon last season’s squad. Quite clearly the squad wasn’t good enough, although it must be said that there was some positives, such as youngsters Spencer Tinkler and Lewis Leckie appearing for the first team. I’ll be looking to build upon that success, bringing in quality young players and integrating some of this season’s u18’s.”
“As I’ve said, my priorities are those stated above, but if we can achieve those objectives and achieve success on the pitch, then fantastic. I believe we will challenge for promotion, I’d also like to think we could have one or two decent cup runs. Deeping Rangers receive fantastic support from fans, hopefully they’ll come and support our home matches and help us achieve our objectives.”
