Hi to all players and
parents
First of all let us start
off by saying what a great start to 2009 we have had. The boys have had a lot of time off in between Christmas and
their first game of 09 so they have come back raring to go and with such enthusiasm. Unfortunately due to the awful British
weather some of our games have been cancelled and so we have only played 4
games – but we won them all and are fighting fit for the next set of matches.
Details of all the matches can be found on the reports page and the scorers
page will be updated too.
We have decided to enter
the boys – alongside the blues – into a football tournament in April to be held
in Blackpool. Both teams will join together to form 1 team and will consist of
around 9-10 players. 4 of our lads will
be going, Mason, Ryan, Ciaran and Vance.
Unfortunately due to other commitments the other boys will not be able
to attend on this occasion but we will find other tournaments they can play
in. We have been given permission by
DRFC to undertake some fundraising activities in order for the boys to
participate and in this current economic climate I think the parents would
appreciate some help towards the cost.
There are several fundraising ideas floating around the ground and all
ideas are welcomed. If you know of
anyone that could donate a raffle prize or know of someone that can help us
raise in the region of £700, please speak to the parents of Ryan, Mason or
Vance to get further information (clarets).
I am unsure who is dealing with the blues side of things but in the end all monies will be
pooled together to give the boys a great opportunity.
So far the Clarets are
arranging a charity football match – Deeping Rangers VS Deeping Dads, a raffle,
bag packing at local supermarkets and something with POSH. All in all we hope
it will be successful. The Blues are
arranging a charity safari supper so for all those interested please speak to a
parent from the blues team.
We have had emails from
Nick in Australia– the previous coach – wondering how the boys are getting on,
it appears he is missing us as much as we miss him and Ben. He tries to keep up
to date with the goings on with the team so will be pleased to know that we
have so far scored 87 goals and only given away 23!!!
We have a full diary
planned for the next few months and if the weather is on our side then most of
those games will go ahead.
Thank you for your
continued support – the boys are doing really well and hopefully will end the
season on a high.
Thanks
Chris and Jules
