Match Reports
Sawtry Colts 1 Deeping Rangers 1
On a very blustery morning Deeping failed to capitalise on a dominant first half where chances went begging time after time, Deeping took the lead just before the interval when Jacob Parkin was brought down when through on goal, Callum Fox stepped up and dispatched the penalty to go into half time one up. The second half was much the same lots of possession but little end result from the Deeping forwards, Sawtry were then rewarded a free kick and with there only shot of the game they drew level, chances still came Deepings way Parkin had the ball in the net only to be given offside, a frustrating morning and another two points dropped.
Abbey 2 Deeping Rangers 2
Deeping returned to action after a weeks break, the first half performance was a lack lustre affair from Deeping as Abbey raced in to a two goal lead, Rangers just couldn’t get going losing possession easily and putting themselves on the back foot. After a dressing down at half time Rangers started the second half the much better side as they worked hard and played their passing game, the reward soon came as skipper Jacob Parkin chased a through ball and tucked it passed the home keeper. Deeping were now in full flow and chances came and went the best of which fell to Jack Davenport, who fired over the bar from close range, then after a sweeping move Michael Carter raced through to grab a well deserved equalizer, Deeping were dominant now but couldn’t find the winner. Assistant Manager Martin Bond commented “If the lads would have played like that first half they would have taken all three points, but after being two down at the break you have to be fairly happy to come away with a point”.
Deeping Rangers 4 Sawtry colts 0
After a two week break Rangers returned to action in the league against Sawtry, on a blustery day at Outgang Road. Deeping dominated the first half without really threatening the score sheet; chances went begging with the Deeping forwards taking the wrong option time after time, the game went into half time at 0-0. The second half was again all Deeping but this half saw Lewis Renwick come off the bench to make an immediate impact on the game, he forced a corner from which former Sawtry player Jamie Cashin fired home to put Rangers ahead, Deeping grew in confidence and where soon two up when Jack Davenport doubled the lead from close range. Callum Fox then fired home from the edge of the box with a sweet strike, It was left to another former Sawtry player Sam Redhead to fire home from an acute angle to finish the scoring
Wittering 4 Deeping Rangers 5
A performance of grit and determination saw Deeping through this game against a very strong Wittering side who were unbeaten at home before today, it was Wittering who made the early running and they took the lead after Deeping failed to clear from a corner. Deeping then began to press and were rewarded when Jacob Parkin slipped clear of his marker to finish well from the edge of the box, Wittering came back strongly and went back in to the lead after a neat finish, but to Deepings credit they took hold of the game and in a spell of 15mins went 4-2 up with Parkin grabbing two more to get his hat trick and Callum Fox fired home a superb free kick. The second half was back to the wall time for Deeping as Wittering had all the play in Deepings half until a quick break away saw skipper Jacob Parkin hit his fourth and Deepings fifth, the game was by no means over though as Wittering battered on the Deeping goal and but for some superb defending from the back four of Luke Smith, Jack Davenport, Jamie Cashin and Adam Bowers and some heroics from keeper Dan Smith, Wittering could have been straight back in the game, it took a dubious decision by the referee, who awarded a penalty for them to do that and then with five minutes remaining Wittering struck again, but Deeping held on with heroics from them all, even after the ref played an astonishing 12 minutes injury time, A great team performance capped with individual performances especially from Sam Redhead who was magnificent in the centre of midfield and Jamie Cashin at the heart of the defence.
Deeping Rangers 1 P&T Panthers 4
Deeping suffered a home defeat against the panthers on a terrible day for playing football, playing against a strong wind in the first half Deeping found themselves 3 down by the break, Deeping had there fair share of chances in the first half but failed to put the ball in to the net. The second half was the same story chance after chance going begging for Deeping, finally Parkin netted with a great effort from the edge of the box, With Deeping going all out to get in the game they were caught out on the break and that ended there hopes.
All in all as disappointing display after a great display the previous game.
Deeping Rangers 12 Rippingale 2
Deeping enjoyed there biggest win of the season at home to a spirited Rippingale side, Deeping dominated the first half an hour of the game and were rewarded with a flurry of goals, with first goals for Deeping from Sam Redhead and Jamie Cashin and first of the season from the impressive Chris Clarkson who was outstanding in the centre of midfield, there were also goals for Parkin and a rare headed goal from Callum Fox, Deeping’ s second half display wasn’t as good but the lads did a professional job and scored some fantastic goals, Dan Smith a second half substitute scored two with classy efforts. Skipper Jacob Parkin helped himself to four, and Jack Davenport hit a 25 yard screamer, Clarkson also added to his tally, To Rippingale’s credit they never let there heads drop and were rewarded with two second half goals. This was a great way to end the year for the lads, who have come a long way since the start of the season.
Holbeach United 2 Deeping Rangers 5
Deeping travelled to league leaders Holbeach with growing confidence that they can compete with the teams at the top of the table. Deeping dominated the opening stages of the game and went ahead through a Callum Fox penalty after a push by the Holbeach defender, then after a defensive mix up Holbeach drew level, all the chances after this came at the other end but Deeping failed to add to there tally until a Fox free kick was not held by the keeper and the excellent Michael Carter slotted home to go in to the break 2-1 up.
The second half saw Holbeach start the quicker and they were soon level despite an excellent save from keeper Dan Smith, Deepings heads did not drop and they were soon back in front when Fox netted his second, soon after it was 4 when Parkin netted after a fine run, Fox then wrapped the game up with his third and Deepings fifth to seal an emphatic victory which could of easily been by a much wider margin.
A great team performance by every one involved.
Boston juniors 2 Deeping Rangers 0
Deeping made the long journey to Boston and left with nothing against the league leaders, Deeping had the best chances in the first half through Sam Redhead and Jamie Cashin both going close to breaking the deadlock. With 20 minutes remaining Boston went ahead after a world class save from Dan Smith, came back out and Boston’s forwards reacted quicker to the rebound than the Deeping defenders. Boston then wrapped the game up in the dying minutes with a killer second goal.
Deeping Rangers 2 Oundle 2
Deeping produced a fine second half performance to gain a credible point against a good Oundle team. Deeping went behind after 15 minutes after a quick break from the pacy Oundle winger. Deeping produced their best move of the first half which led to Callum Fox scoring at the far post brining them back on to level terms.
The second half saw some much better football from Rangers, but they did fall behind again after a shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner of the net.
Deeping kept pressing forward and were rewarded after a great through ball from Lewis Renwick found substitute Dan Smith who fired home with a cool finish.
Rangers kept pressing forward and only the crossbar kept the ball out after a thunderous effort from Smith had the keeper well beaten, further chances fell to Deeping the best of which went inches wide from skipper Parkin.
Deeping Rangers 4 Abbey Athletic 2
Another good team performance saw Deeping record their second win in as many weeks, the game started with both teams enjoying possession of the ball. The first goal of the game came from a well struck Callum Fox free kick that the keeper failed to hold and Jack Davenport reacted quickly to put the ball in to the net. Abbey got back on to level terms when Deeping lost the ball in midfield and some poor defending let in the pacy Abbey forward who slotted the ball past Dan Smith, Abbey then had another chance this time Smith produced an outstanding save. Then Deeping pressed forward again and after a goal mouth scramble the ball fell to Dan Smith who fired home from 12 yards to put Deeping back in front, Smith then grabbed his second of the game after some fantastic work by skipper Jacob Parkin, After the interval Deeping increased their lead again when skipper Parkin finished well after a great run. Abbey then scored a consolation goal in the last minute.
Rippingale 1 Deeping Rangers 2
Deeping recorded their first win of the season with a good team performance. Deeping started well and had a lot of early possession, and should have been awarded a penalty when Michael Carter looked to of been brought down in the area but the referee thought otherwise. Deeping continued to press forward and were awarded a free kick, Callum Fox stepped up and dispatched the ball into the top of the net to take the lead.
The lead did not last long though when Deeping failed to clear from a corner and Rippingale capitalized to score the equalizer. After the half time interval though Deeping dominated the game Fox went close again and substitute Renwick started to cause all sorts of mayhem with some mazy runs. Deepings defence was marshalled very well by Cashin And Davenport With keeper Smith not having a save to make in the second half, Sam Redhead and Chris Clarkson were winning the battle in the midfield, with time running out it was left to skipper Jacob Parkin to latch on to a through ball and fire a left foot shot past the keeper and to seal a well earned victory.
Deeping Rangers 0 V Boston Juniors 3
The new season kicked off at Outgang road against a strong Boston outfit, after a fairly even opening quarter Deeping fell behind after failing to clear from a corner, Deeping had some good chances themselves and were always in the game until a great goal from the visitors, which all but finished the game off. Still the lads pressed hard without much luck, and in the final few minutes an own goal from a corner sealed Deepings fate.
Oundle juniors 1 Deeping Rangers 0
The first away game of the season saw a debut for Jamie Cashin who settled in nicely with his new team-mates. Deeping started the stronger team and had the majority of the play, Chris Clarkson was thwarted from scoring by a great save from Oundles keeper and Callum Fox went close to opening the scoring when rounding the keeper to having his effort cleared off the line, going into the second half the lads kept up the tempo and playing some slick passing football, then against the run of play Oundle scored from a shot on the edge of the box. Deeping kept pressing forward but were unable to find the equalizer they deserved.
Deeping Rangers 1 Holbeach 2
Rangers made the perfect start in this encounter going ahead to a well taken Callum Fox goal, after some slick passing, but just before half time Deeping were caught napping and Holbeach levelled. After the interval Deeping were again found out 30 seconds into the second half to a simple goal.
To the lads credit they out played the visitors but again failed to get back in to the game. Deeping had three new faces in the team Sam Redhead, Nathan Fielding and Stephen Coles all the lads did very well on their league debut.
Deeping Rangers 1 Deconians 2
Rangers looking for there first points of the season made a slow start and conceded early after a free kick to the visitors. After going behind though Deeping started to get a hold in midfield with Clarkson and Redhead starting to win tackles and some good passing which soon told on the game with Fielding finishing smartly after latching on to a good through ball from Redhead, the game was pretty evenly matched until a free kick was awarded outside the box for a nothing challenge, this was to prove costly as Deeping failed to clear and went behind again. Deeping had chances to level but could not make them count, then in the final minute Dan Smith struck a tremendous shot that beat the keeper but struck the bar.

6 Feb Deeping Rangers U12s 2 Glinton Utd U12s 2
This clash really was the proverbial game of two halves. Having dominated the first half and forged a two-goal lead, Deeping found themselves struggling to hold on by the end. Deeping opened the scoring in the 12th minute when a corner was only partially cleared by the Glinton defence and from the edge of the area, Jack Davenport, was able to fire home. Just before half time, Deeping further extended their lead when Aaron Mourton skilfully slotted home a cross from the right from close range.
Deeping had played well and deserved their lead but after the break they were faced by a revitalised and determined Glinton team. Glinton took a firm hold of the middle of the park and from there were able to launch a number of strong attacks. Early in the half, they reduced the deficit when Sanderson looped an unstoppable long-range lob into the Deeping net. Glinton continued to press and with only six minutes to go, they managed to get the equaliser that their performance deserved. Rippon found time and space and was able to fire home from long distance, giving Gait in the Deeping goal no chance. Overall, a fair result for two strong and very evenly matched sides.
Man Of The Match: Jack Davenport

30 January Deeping Rangers U12s 7 Crowland Juniors U12s 3
Fox Rocks Whittlesey
Having been knocked out of the League Cup only two weeks ago by Whittlesey, it was sweet revenge for Deeping Rangers in this weekend's league encounter. Whilst the final score-line suggested a comfortable victory for the home side, the truth was something rather different . It wasn't until the last 8 minutes that three late goals finally secured the victory for Deeping against a battling Whittlesey team, who refused to accept defeat. Twice Deeping held a two goal lead, only to be pegged back to a single goal by Whittlesey. Baker for Whittlesey opened the scoring but two goals by Callum Fox and a goal by Aaron Mourton gave Deeping a 3-1 half-time lead.
Further goals by Rippon and Hubbard for Whittlesey and for Deeping by Ben McClarnon brought the Outgang Rd. visitors within a goal of the home side with only 10 minutes of the game remaining. Determined to avenge the Cup defeat, Rangers continued to attack and goals from Jane and two more from Fox, completed his personal 4-goal haul and Deeping's scoring.

16 January Deeping Rangers U12s 6 Crowland Juniors U12s 1
Deeping Rangers extended their unbeaten run in the league to seven games with a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Crowland Juniors at Outgang Rd. on Sunday. With recent signing Adam Bowers making his first start at right back and Tommy Orbell switching to left back, the Deeping defence were strong and always had the upper hand. However, it was in attack where the damage was really done. Early strikes by Aaron Mourton and Callum Fox saw Deeping go two up in just two minutes. Further goals from Ben McClarnon and his brother Jacob gave the hosts a 4-0 half-time lead. Not content with four, Rangers wasted no time at all after the break. Goals from Mourton and a superbly executed lob by Fox within seven minutes of the restart, gave them a comfortable six goal cushion. To their credit, Crowland didn't stop fighting and their efforts were rewarded halfway through the second half when Browning was given time and space to run at the Deeping goal. He took full advantage of the opening and scored. Deeping were given the chance to extend their lead just before the end when they were awarded a penalty, but Aaron Mourton saw his well struck shot rebound off of the post to safety.

December 19 Spalding Athletic U12s 2 Deeping Rangers U12s 2
This clash between the second and third placed teams in Division 1 promised to be a hugely entertaining game and it certainly didn't disappoint. Both teams gave it their all, neither wanting to concede valuable points to the other. It was Spalding who took the lead after just 10 minutes and when they scored their second soon after halftime, their hold on the game seemed unassailable. That was without accounting for the guts and determination that has been bred into the Deeping Rangers team. Even when decisions weren't going their way, they didn't let their heads drop or consider themselves to be out of the game.
It wasn't until three minutes from time that Deeping managed to pull a goal back. A perfect cross from Jacob Smitheringale on the left found substitute Dan Smith racing in at the far post to beat the impressive and until then impenetrable, Stewart England, in the Spalding goal. Not satisfied with a consolation goal, Deeping continued to pressurise the now edgy Spalding defence and were rewarded for their efforts in injury time when a ball was only partially cleared and fell to Ben McClarnon. Ben unleashed an excellent dipping shot from 25 yards, which gave the keeper no chance of stopping at all and levelled the game at 2-2.
After the game Rangers manager, Andy Pickering said 'I really look forward to our matches against Spalding. They're always fiercely contested but evenly balanced encounters. They are an excellent team and I tend to use them as the yardstick by which we can measure our progress. In the past, Spalding have always had the upper hand, albeit usually only by the odd goal. Today was the closest yet and I must admit that I am rather disappointed that we didn't get the win. We had two goals questionably ruled out and when clean through on goal in the first half, we were awarded a free kick when advantage ought really to have been played. But having said that, Spalding had two chances cleared off the line! Overall, I am absolutely delighted with my team. I really couldn't have expected anything more from them.'
Man Of The Match: Jacob Smitheringale (Deeping Rangers)

12 December Deeping Rangers U12s 2 Bushfield Park U12s 1
SWEET REVENGE
It was a case of sweet revenge for Deeping Rangers Under 12s on Sunday in their game against Bushfield Park. In the first game of the season, Deeping suffered the heartbreak of an injury time equaliser by Bushfield to rob them of victory in a match that they had dominated for large periods. How ironic it was that the Deepings winner on Sunday came in the third minute of injury time! Deeping had led the game from the very first minute, when the impressive Jacob Smitheringale, fired home from the edge of the box. Bushfield refused to allow that early set-back to effect them and they battled relentlessly to get back into the game, putting Deeping under great pressure. Unfortunately, for them though they found Deepings keeper, Steffan Gait, in superb form. Gait, who was well supported by a determined Deeping defence, led by their captain, Jack Davenport, pulled off a series of top class saves. However, Deeping were unable to prevent Bushfield's striker, Rolte, getting a well taken equaliser in the 12th minute of the second half. The game remained on a knife-edge and as the two teams continued to match each other throughout and a draw looked likely. That was until Jacob McClarnon was put through in the dying seconds to calmly slot home the winner for the Rangers.
Man Of The Match: Steffan Gait

December 5 Deeping Rangers U12s 7 Netherton Utd U12s 1
The late withdrawal due to illness of the Netherton goalkeeper undoubtedly had a big bearing on the outcome of this Under 12s fixture. Finding a stand-in meant reorganising their defence and despite their best efforts, they were unable to keep the goal hungry Deeping side at bay. Deeping's summer signing, Callum Fox, was undoubtedly the star of the show, scoring an excellent hat-trick and creating the perfect opening for Sam Pickering to drive home his goal from the edge of the area. Two goals from the in-form Jacob McClarnon and another from Deeping's tenacious winger, James Jane completed the scoring for the home side. Netherton's only goal came midway through the second half and was scored by last week's Northants Cup 4-goal hero, Erick Matate.
Man Of The Match: Callum Fox

21 November Deeping Rangers U12s 10 Newborough Juniors U12s 2
Deeping Rangers Under 12s continued their impressive recent run of form by putting 10 goals past Newborough Juniors in the second round of the League Cup on Sunday. It wasn't evident how one sided the score would turn out to be early on when James Jane's goal after only three minutes for Deeping was cancelled out by Lenton for Newborough just two minutes later. The disappointment of conceding such a quick equaliser seemed to spur the Deeping boys on and from then on, there was only going to be one winner. Goals from Callum Fox, Sam Pickering, Jacob McClarnon, Jacob Smitheringale and a second for James Jane gave them a comfortable 6-1 half-time lead.
Jacob Smitheringale scored his second and Rangers seventh soon after the break and then strikes from Aaron Mourton, Ben McClarnon and 'super-sub' Dan Smith completed Deepings 10 goal haul. Newborough's only reply came through a well taken individual goal from Mangieri, 5 minutes from the end. Deeping will now travel to play Whittlesey Athletic in the Quarter Finals on the 16th January.
Man Of The Match: Ben McClarnon - another strong midfield performance capped by an excellent goal

Sunday 14 November. Woodston U12s 2 Deeping Rangers U12s 5
Deeping Rangers Under 12s improved league form continued at the weekend with a convincing 5-2 away win against Woodston. It was the Deeping Rangers number 9, Aaron Mourton , who stood out with a superbly taken hat-trick. Goals from Callum Fox and a long-range drive from Jacob McClarnon completed the scoring for the Deepings boys. Manager Andy Pickering was delighted with the win. He said "It was a physical game on a difficult pitch and I'm really pleased with how the team coped. The whole team played well but I am particularly pleased for Aaron. He works so hard for the team, week in, week out and his 3 goals were a great reward for him".
Man Of The Match: Aaron Mourton

Sunday 7 November Holbeach Utd U12s 0 Deeping Rangers U12s 6
After the heartbreak of conceding an injury time equaliser and then losing the game in extra time in the Lincs. County Cup last weekend, Deeping Rangers Under 12s lifted themselves to gain an emphatic victory away to Holbeach Utd. in the League Cup. It was honours even in the McClarnon household with twins, Jacob and Ben, netting two goals each. Further strikes from Jacob Smitheringale and Callum Fox completed the six goal haul, as the Claret and Blues ran out 6-0 winners. When interviewed after the game, Rangers manager, Andy Pickering, was clearly very proud of his team's efforts " Holbeach gave us a tough test, particularly in the first half, but I was delighted with the bounce-back- ability shown by my team after last weeks disappointment. I took the opportunity to make changes to both our formation and personnel today and gave boys who have been substitutes in recent weeks the chance to start. I was really pleased with how well they did and particularly with the performance of Jamie Bowd at right-back. It was his first start of the season and he was arguably the man of the match." Deeping will now play Newborough Juniors in the next round of the cup on 21st November.

17 October - Whittlesey Athletic 4 Deeping Rangers 4
A somewhat depleted Deeping Rangers Under 12s team took on Whittlesey Athletic at the Manor Leisure Centre, Whittlesey, in what was a fiercely contested and very exciting game. For the second time this season, the young Rangers found themselves seriously behind in a game in which they had had large portions of the play in throughout. 3-1 down at half-time , left them with a mountain to climb to get anything out of a game that they had led through a bravely taken goal by Jacob McClarnon. A change in formation and a belief in their own ability, even after having conceded a fourth goal very early after the break, led to a great comeback.,Goals from Smitheringale, Pickering and man of the match Jane, meant that the points were finally shared.
3 October - After promotion to division one last season Deeping started a tough opening sequences of matches with a 3-3 draw away to Bushfields, then came defeats against Spalding (home), PSV (away), and Yaxley (away), before an impressive first win of the season away to Crowland (3-0).

26 June 2004. Under the leadership of Neil Waumsley the u11s took on six top junior sides at a very well run tournament at Spalding. After the group stage Deeping had a record of won 3, lost 2, drawn 1 and finished runners up in the league stage and so moving into to a semi-final against a strong Lincoln side who had beaten us in the group stage. Revenge was sweet for the boys who put in a tremendous performance to win the game 1-0 with a cool finish from jake mclarnon. The final paird Deeping with Sleaford United, the other team to beat the lads in the group stage, but once again Deeping turned that round with a brave and hard working perfomance coming out on top 2-1 with goals from thomas Waumsley and Callum Fox, with Stephan Gait making a couple of great saves at the other end.
