20th January 2008
Under 12’s Peterborough Junior Alliance League – Division 2
Deeping Rangers v Coates Crusaders
Record Win
A sticky pitch and the possibility of more rain made for uncertain playing conditions. One thing that was certain however was the mood in the Rangers dressing room. Talks of double figure score lines and hatricks all round were high on the agenda. News of the recent demise of the Coates team had spread and this was a game that had to be won convincingly.
Deeping started the game brightly enough, but after 5 minutes were they going to start to regret the half dozen chances they had already missed. Ben Moore was the first to break the deadlock with a good run in behind the defence, his pace took him clear of the chasing defenders and the ball was slotted home low past the oncoming keeper.
The linesman’s arm was starting ache, 4 caught offside at one time was the record. But the continued pressure and pace became too much for the Coates defence and soon the flood gates opened up. Goals from Tom Houghton, Evan Ladley and James Chatham were all fine efforts but nothing prepared us for the jubilation of Reece Coppins getting his first goal for 2 seasons. Patiently waiting on the edge of the 18 yard box, Reece pounced on a loose ball to fire home a fierce shot.
When 7-0 up at half time team talks become interesting, but the players were told in clear terms the score was 0-0 and they had to go back out and start again. A highlight of the second half came mid way through the half when Deepings stalwart centre half Ryan Davis became centre forward, and he certainly made the most of it. Ryan scored his first ever league goal for Deeping and quickly doubled his tally with fast foot work and a firmly struck shot. Jack O’keeffe and a first of the season from Matty Randall added to an ever increasing scorers list. Man of the Match went to Matty Randall for his unselfishness and overall work rate.

Coates Crusaders v Deeping Rangers
First Loss
Confidence was again quite high in the Deeping camp, but with the leading scorer missing was it going to be plain sailing ?
The game got underway with Coates immediately showing their intentions and attacking down the right wing. The opening move ended in a nice cross which Davis cleared with his head. Both sides competed well, but it was Coates that made the early chances with pressure on the Deeping defence. It was a ball over the top of Deepings defence which put a Coates striker in on goal, but the Deeping keeper Brader came out and made a good save at the feet of the Coates striker. Braders long kick found Moore to flick on and put Ladley in on goal but the Coates defence covered well and cleared the ball. Coates continued to press forward and Deeping scrambled the ball clear for a corner. Coates put in a great ball for their target man and he obliged with a good header that found the back of the net. 1-0
Solid play in the Deeping midfield with good passing from Horton, who sprayed the ball wide to Chatham to put Moore through, but the Coates keeper was equally quick to react and he collected the ball comfortably. Coates put another ball over the top and the Deeping Keeper made the save but the loose ball rebounded back off the Coates striker to make it 2-0.
Deeping pressed on again with Coppins to laying off a neat pass to O'Keeffe who beat his player and delivered a good cross for Ladley to shoot into the side netting.
Second half subs made Millar for Clark, Randall for Horton and Burton for Chatham.
Clark started the second half well with some good defending and played a good early ball down the right wing to O'Keeffe who delivered another good cross for Ladley who's shot was blocked. Once again Deeping were caught from a ball over the top but this time Coates took their chance and score 3-0.
Good character from Deeping was shown and they continued to apply pressure on the Coates defence, but missed chances ended up costing Deeping their first defeat of the season. In the closing stages Deeping had three one on one chances with the Coates keeper but failed to score. Both teams played in good spirit but Coates showed they had the killer touch in front of goal to get a well earned three points.

Netherton Condors v Deeping Rangers
Magnificent Seven
Deeping went into the game at the Grange full of confidence following early season back to back victories
The game started with a fast tempo from both teams and it took just seven minutes for Deeping to punish Nethertons defence as Royce turned two defenders and with a superb cross, allowed Chatham to volley the ball into the top corner of the net 1-0.
Continued pressure saw Deeping moving forward with Clark collecting the ball deep in his own half, passing down the line to Ladley who crossed it for Royce to slot home with a clinical finish, 2-0.
Deeping quickly regained possession straight after Nethertons kick off through Horton who played it to Ladley then out to the wing to O’Keeffe who crossed it for Royce to fire home once again 3-0.
Tenacious work from Moore in midfield paid off as he collected the ball, beat one player to cut inside and pass to Royce who raced through the Netherton defence and fired a twenty yard shot into the roof of the net to complete his hat trick 4-0.
Second half substitutions were Coppins for Horton, Burton for Clark, Randall for Moore and Millar for Moule.
Netherton started off well in the second half through some good passing but the Deeping centre backs, Davis and Wheatly were too strong for the Netherton strikers.
The Deeping keeper Brader who had not previously been called upon kicked the ball long for Ladley to flick on to Chatham who then sprayed the ball wide to O’Keeffe who delivered a good cross back to Ladley to slot home 5-0.
Yet more pressure from Deeping earned a corner and O’Keeffe delivered a low cross that Royce hit on the volley and fizzed passed the Netherton keeper,6-0.
Coppins picked the ball up in midfield and found Chatham with a superb pass who then raced down the wing and crossed it in the path of Royce who fired home his fifth goal of the match making it 7-0.
Deeping dominated the game from start to finish with their passing and movement all round the team.

Barton Junior Football Club v Deeping Rangers
North versus South
The two extremities of Lincolnshire met on Sunday as Barton upon Humber was the destination for Deeping Rangers under 12’s
With the Humber Bridge providing an impressive backdrop the ground provided an equally impressive playing surface.
It took just 3 minutes for O’Keeffe to open the scoring with a well-taken volley from outside the box, which lobbed the keeper. From then on it was all Deeping and they dominated the game with some slick passing centered on Horton in the midfield. Deeping forced a corner which was taken by Chatham, Barton’s defence cleared it, Chatham delivered again flicked on by O’Keeffe and Ladley coolly finished. 2 minutes later Chatham went on a great run down the wing and cut inside to deliver a fierce shot which rattled the net making it 3-0.
Barton did not really cause much fret to our goal but when they did Deepings defence did the job. A long searching ball over the top was to be the only touch in this half for the Deeping keeper. Deeping kept pushing on and the persistence of Ladley and Moore caused many problems for the Barton defence.
Substitutions were made which brought on Royce for Ladley and Coppins for Horton it did not take long for Coppins to stamp his authority in the midfield.
Royce took over where Ladley had left of and quickly scored 2 goals in 5 minutes.
Second half Deeping dominated the game with their passing and pace up front. Moore finally got his rewards when he picked up the ball in midfield went round 3 players and smashed the ball in the bottom corner to make it 6-0. Horton who had been instrumental in releasing the wingers all game took advantage of a loose ball on the edge of the area and drove a fierce shot into the back of the net.
Deeping had a lot of chances from Clark, Coppins, Moore and Randall which Barton’s keeper saved. Randall was unlucky to have a goal disallowed and a penalty turned down after bursting through the defence and was just about to shoot when his standing foot was taken from him.

Under 12’s Peterborough Junior Alliance League – Division 2
Woodston Dynamo v Deeping Rangers
Last years Runners up meet.
Last seasons 3rd and 4th position finishers met up in this early season battle.
A full strength Deeping side arrived at Celta road to play a game which historically has not been too kind. The crowd control measures worried us slightly – were they expecting a big turn out from the Woodston faithful?
A poor playing surface with long grass in places meant warm up consisted of lots of passing drills. A key decision that greatly effected the game.
A lively and physical game got under way and early pressure from Woodston was dealt with by the solid Deeping centre backs Davis and Wheatley. It was also the wide defensive players for Deeping Clark and Moule that increased the frustration for the Woodston forwards by calmly dealing with the long ball behind them. Soon they found that the forwards had drifted further and further back into their own half and had less and less to do.
A knee injury to O’keeffe led the way for a League Debut for new signing Moore and he soon showed his hunger to win the ball.
The midfield took the game to Woodston and was displaying a real sense of urgency to get the ball. Early passing released the wingers in behind the defense and goals from Royce and Moore took Deeping in 2-0 up at half time.
The second half saw more pressure from the Deeping attackers but the Woodston keeper just had ball magnets for hands. A string of great saves kept the game at a score line which was not fitting to the outfield play. Woodston sent out a warning message to the Deeping players by snapping back with a well worked but soft goal. Deepings response was immediate and Royce was there with a great bursting run to calmly slot home.
A quick succession of injuries saw the ice packs being applied to Coppins for a kick in the back and for Randall who suffered a knee injury after only 4 minutes on the pitch.
In then end a good match for Deeping and real confidence boost that the team is developing in all areas.

Stanground Strikers v Deeping Rangers
Opening Fixture for 07-08 season
A beautiful day to play the beautiful game, and yes I should have worn sun block!
The very long walk from the Orton centre car park provided the two managers time to dwell on the embarrassment of injuring themselves whist playing football (and having a ride in an ambulance) at the end of last season.
A huge pitch awaited us and it was to be a passing style of football that would benefit. Fitness would play a part here as well and with only the 2 substitutes I was becoming a worried Manager.
The Deeping players were up for this and it was a different set of players that had played mid week. All of it came together the teamwork, the communication, the attitude.
Playing with the slope, the Deeping players controlled most of the first half, good passing and movement was only cancelled out by a wall of defensive Stanground players.
Quick reactions from Brader in the Deeping goal dealt with the long balls in from Stanground and the back four grew in confidence playing calmly and composed to clear their lines.
The midfield players were winning lots of loose balls and Ladley and Royce were given plenty of space to run into and put the Stanground defence under pressure. After a couple of attempts on goal fell short on power, the shots started to find the target and Ladley opened his account with a powerful shot.
Royce and Ladley started to show great understanding with each others play and repeatedly got themselves in behind the Stanground defence. A second goal from Ladley was the just reward for the continual pressure by him and Royce.
Substitutions saw some tired legs replaced and Randall soon found that the midfield were still intent on opening up the Stanground defense with clinical through balls and he worked his socks off to get on the end of those passes and have a string of chances.
The final goal of the game fell to Horton who unleashed a powerfull shot from the edge of the area to seal the victory.
Final Score : 3-0. Deepings man of the match : Evan Ladley
Stephen Brader, Jordan Moule, Alex Wheatly, Ryan Davis, Callum Clark, Jack O’keeffe, Tom Horton, Reece Coppins, Oakley Burton, Evan Ladley, Lewis Royce
Subs : Tom Millar, Matthew Randall
The team had a very successful first season of 11-a-side football, finishing 3rd in their league and narrowly losing in the Final of the League Cup.

22 January 2006:Deeping Rangers U10 3 Wittering U10 5
Wittering repeated last week's cup success over Rangers as they plundered the league points. Harriers were quick out of the blocks, scoring three goals in five minutes through Charlie Noller (2) and Brad Lynn. Much to Deepings credit they kept playing football and pulled a good goal back just before half time. Wittering began to put more thought into their play and this soon brought goals from Noler and Jack Yule.
12 November 2005 Deeping Rangers Blues v’s Glinton Black. Under 10’s, Zone 3
Deeping showed great resilience to the physical battle encountered in this local derby. The deadlock was broken shortly after half time when Jake Showler beat 2 Glinton players on the wing and crossed for striker Ben Cowles to finish. Glinton rarely found a way through the Deeping defence and the Deeping Keeper was hardly called upon until late in the second half when he dwelled on a long clearance and got caught in possession by Thomas Skinner for the equalizer. Final score 1-1.

15 October 2005: Deeping Rangers Blues v’s Northborough Juniors: Under 10’s, Zone 3
A gritty performance by Deeping saw them rise to the top of the league. The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when Northborough deflected in a Chatham throw. Continued pressure from the midfield trio tested the Northborough defence but it was not until the second half that a Chatham corner increased the lead with another unfortunate deflection. Northborough increased the pressure by pushing more players forward and pulled one back from a goalmouth scramble. Ladley showed great strength and skill with a fine finish during the closing minutes to seal the game for Deeping. Final score 3-1.

8 October 2005: Deeping Rangers Blues v’s Crowland Juniors: Under 10’s, Zone 3
The Nathan Brown show came to Deeping on Saturday with a convincing victory over a hard fighting Crowland team. The first of 4 goals for the captain, Brown, came after 6 minutes. His second was the best of the bunch, a well struck shot from the edge of the box looping over the outstretched keeper. A further 2 goals in the second half came from his sheer persistence and capped off a well deserved man of the match performance. The midfield trio battled for every ball and created numerous chances. The Deeping keeper was rarely called upon and along with the defence, kept control and were worthy of a clean sheet. Final score 4-0.

1 October 2005: Deeping Rangers Blues v’s Holbeach United: Under 10’s, Zone 3
Deeping started strong with Callum McAvoy snatching an early goal. Continued pressure produced another 2 goals from Evan Ladley before half time. Changes at half time allowed Holbeach to shorten the deficit but Deeping remained in control, and a well taken goal from Ben Cowles increased the lead. The Holbeach goalkeeper kept the score line respectable with a string of fine saves and denied Nathan Brown from the penalty spot. Final score 4-1.

17 September 2005; Deeping Rangers Blues v’s Ripingale Rovers Under 10’s: Zone 3
Deeping took control of the game from the outset, Hick and Ladley again showing great strength in defence when required. Just before half time Brown cleared from the halfway line for Showler to float a teasing chip into the box where Cowles finished with a delightful header. Whilst Deeping continued to dominate during the second half, Rippingale stole a late equaliser – final score 1-1.
