Deeping win by the one goal
Netherton Falcons 0
Deeping Rangers 1
Deeping
took all three points back to Outgang Rd thanks to a superb goal once again
from William Knight. Deeping started brightly when William Knight crossed a
great ball in from the right wing but all the Deeping strikers failed to
connect to get the ball home. Shortly afterwards a moment of magic from William
Kinight who curled a left foot shot into the corner of the net from twenty
yards. Then Netherton had a great chance and Deeping ‘keeper Mark Grundy
produced a brilliant save to tip the ball around the far post. Again, Netherton
had another chance and once again, Mark Grundy stopped the shot with his feet.
Deeping pressed forward but could not find a second goal and settled for all
three points.
Nigel
Reeve, Deeping stand-in coach said “This was a very tight affair between two
evenly balanced teams and we just sneaked it home. Another fantastic goal from
William Knight was top drawer stuff and we just held out. Full credit to the
Falcons’ who kept having a go but Mark Grundy was magnificent today and
commanded his area with great confidence.”

Deeping beat A15 rivals
Deeping Rangers left it very late to take all three
points back to Outgang Road after going behind 2-1 to their local rivals.
Deeping started better of the two sides, and took the lead through Jordan
Watson after a fine through ball by David Stevenette found Jake Brown who
released it to Jordan Watson who knocked the ball home. Minutes later, a mix up
in the Deeping defence allowed the Bourne striker Woodcock to score from 10
yards out. Bourne then scored again as a deflected cross came out to Woodcock
to score his second goal which found the back of the net. Deeping came back out
from the restart after a battling cry from Deeping stand-in coach Nigel Reeve
at half-time, all guns blazing and Will Knight scored a bouncing volley from 25
yards to equalise. In the last minute and with only seconds remaining, Deeping
found possession and a fine pass from Owen Skinner found Jordan Watson to score
his second goal of the game. Deeping went wild with celebrations. Jamie Sharpe
was deservedly named man-of-the match after a commanding midfield performance
and winning his aerial battle throughout.
Nigel Reeve, Deeping stand-in coach said “We left
it very late but full credit to all the lads for not giving up. Once we
equalised through another cracking goal from William Knight there was only one
team going on to win the game”

Deeping win with ten men!
Hampton FC 3 Deeping
Rangers 5
Ten-man Deeping
Rangers produced a battling display to pick up all three away points at Hampton
after taking a two goal lead within five minutes and playing their full part in
an exciting clash which included two bookings, a missed penalty and eight
goals. Jamie Sharpe opened the scoring for Deeping when his weighted left foot
shot from just inside the penalty area found the back of the net. Jake Brown
fed Jordan Watson who with a turn of speed passed his marker and slotted the
ball home. William Knight turned provider and his perfect corner found the head
of Jordan Watson who rose the highest to send the ball crushing into the back
of the net. Hampton pulled a goal back after some sloppy Deeping defending.
David Stevenette won the ball in midfield and played it through for Jake Brown
to fire a low drive through the Hampton defence which found the back of the
net. Jordan Watson curled in a left wing corner and pint size Jamie Sharpe
climbed the furthest to contact and head the ball home. Hampton pulled two
further goals back before Deeping ‘keeper Mark Grundy pulled off a magnificent
penalty save with minutes remaining.
Craig
Skinner, Deeping stand-in coach said “All of the ten lads were superb and
showed great commitment throughout the game. They were first off the marks and
battled for everything. Although Jordan Watson was deservedly man-of-the-match,
each one contributed to a magnificent result and it just showed the fantastic
team spirit that was evident throughout”

Gunthorpe Harriers 5 Deeping Rangers 2
Deeping
Rangers despite going down 2-0 early on in an all action match fought back
bravely to equalise but the Harriers’ continue to lead the league table and
look very much u12s championship title favourites. Two early well taken goals
gave Harriers’ the upper hand and they looked to be plain sailing before
Deeping recovered to give the title pace setters a scare. Jordan Watson pulled
one goal back for Deeping with a tap in following a scramble in the penalty area
before William Knight equalised with a twenty five yard thunder shot that left
the Harriers ‘keeper with no chance. Gunthorpe were able to sneak in front just
before half time when the impressive Dan Garner slotted home from a good move
down the right hand side. Deeping ‘keeper Mark Gundy pulled off a magnificent
save to keep Deeping in the frame but further Gunthorpe goals cemented their
advantage and put them in pole position to take the crown off Woodston Blue
this year.
Nigel
Reeve, Deeping stand-in coach said “The boys recovered well from being 2-0

and Gunthorpe took the lead just before half time. Despite chasing the game we

Deeping hit NINE
Woodston Red 0 Deeping
Rangers 9
Rampant Deeping Rangers produced an all out
attacking display to record a resounding victory over Woodston Red who had
beaten Deeping Rangers at Outgang Road earlier in the season. Deeping took
control from the start against 10 man Woodston and Jamie Sharpe fed a looping
cross to the far post where Jordan Watson was able to head the ball in the far
corner. It was Jordan Watson again who was played through and his shot on the
run doubled the scoreline after only five minutes. A few minutes later William
Knight grabbed his first goal of the game with a simple tab in from close
range. Just before half-time Owen Skinner spotted the Woodston ‘keeper off his line
crossed for William Knight to strike the ball sweetly into the top corner of
the net. With Deeping’s tails up they began to push forward in numbers and with
the numeric advantage beginning to take its toil on Woodston, Jake Brown was
put through and lobbed the advancing ’keeper for William Knight to complete his
hat-trick.
Jake Brown was then played through with a precise
pass and his cool finish complete with professional celebrations made it 6-0.
Jordan Watson latched onto a loose ball just inside the Woodston penalty area
and blasted the ball into the roof of the net to complete the second hat-trick
for Deeping. David Stevenette was able to offer Owen Skinner a perfect
opportunity to increase the lead further when his measured cross was tucked
neatly inside the near post. Deeping completed the scoring with a stunning
ninth and final goal when a weighted cross from the impressive Jordan Watson
was turned in by Owen Skinner.
Jason Chatham, Deeping coach said “The boys started
brightly and never looked back. The headlines will be with those with the
hat-tricks but the man-of-the-match for me was Luke Parsons who had his best
game in a Deeping shirt all season. He covered every inch of a bumpy pitch and
never gave up. Full credit to Woodston who finished the match with nine men due
to injuries for making a match of it despite always chasing the game.”

Glinton stroll to derby win
Glinton took the lead in the first minute and
dominated against their neighbours who never looked like getting anything in
this League One encounter at a wind swept Outgang Road. With the wind behind
them Glinton settled into their stride and were leading in the first minute
after a well taken goal crept inside the Deeping near post. Deeping battled
forward but were guilty of several passes going astray and making basic
mistakes throughout their approach play. Glinton increased their lead before
half time when a twenty yard shot found the back of the net after some neat
exchanges between the Glinton forwards. Deeping pulled one back when Owen
Skinner managed to deliver a cross after teasing several Glinton defenders for
Jake Brown to volley home with his left foot. Deeping were left to long range
efforts to crawl back before Glinton increased their lead further after some
hesitate Deeping defending to make the final score a convincing 4-1 win to
Glinton.
Jason Chatman, Deeping coach said “The boys had
their backs against the walls from the first minute after going behind so early
on and found it difficult in tricky conditions although Glinton settled in
their stride much sooner. Despite getting back to 2-1 we never really looked
like equalising and Glinton thoroughly deserved all three points”

Knight to the rescue
Deeping Rangers 3
Hampton FC 1
Deeping earned all three points from a competitive clash against
a well organised Hampton outfit. Deeping started well and created a few
half-chances while the defensive quartet of Ben Aspinall, Liam Reeve, Thomas
Palmer and David Stevenette helped keep Hampton at bay. Jamie Sharpe scored the
opening goal after 8 minutes for Deeping as William Knight created the chance
by winning the ball and providing a great cross for Jamie Sharpe to fire in a
left foot drive in off the post. Deeping substitute George Venables was asked
to cover for left back David Stevenette who was forced off after only 10
minutes with a foot injury. William Knight produced a touch of class for
Deeping when he received the ball to leash a 35 yard effort that was dipping as
it made its way into the far corner of the net. Deeping could have added to the
scoreline when Jordan Watson and Jake Brown both had half-chances which were
well saved. With Luke Parsons linking up well in midfield, Deeping searched for
the all important third goal and created several chances but were denied by the
Hampton rearguard. David Stevenette reappeared at the start of the second half
for Deeping after rubbing off a knock in the first half and a great ball was
fed into Owen Skinner to score a well taken goal which he deserved for his
overall play throughout the game together with his man-of-the-match award.
Hampton responded by throwing the kitchen sink at Deeping and only some fine
saves from Deeping keeper Mark Grundy kept them at bay although Hampton did
sneak a consolation towards the end of the match. However, Deeping kept their
nerve and saw out the remaining few minutes to come away with all three league
points.
Jason Chatman, Deeping coach said “Once again we were strong in
the first half but sat back after taking a well deserved lead. The second half
was more even and all the boys had to get stuck in. I was disappointed to
concede a soft goal as we tell the boys we always go out for clean sheets. Owen
Skinner had a great game and linked up well up front, but the wonder goal from
William Knight was worth seeing again if the cameras had been here!”

Deeping share the spoils
Deeping Rangers 3 Netherton
Hawks 3
Both
teams served up a recipe full of incident which included two penalties, six
goals, plenty of chances and a share of the points at Outgang Road. After the
winter break of four weeks due to snow and waterlogged pitches both teams were
keen to get their season back on track. Both teams traded blows early on with
missed chances at both ends before Deeping thought they had taken an early lead
when Jake Brown was pulled down in the penalty area. Brown stepped up to take
the spot kick and scored only for the referee to demand the kick to be retaken.
Unfortunately the second attempt went narrowly wide. Minutes later a fine left
foot cross from Owen Skinner found Jordon Watson who calmly slotted home to
take an early lead for Deeping. Jake Brown leashed a thundering shot which was
slightly deflected before finding the back of the goal to double the
Deeping lead. Netherton Falcons were determined to get back into the game and
two quick taken goals, one from Marcio Martins who found the equaliser before
the half time whistle was blown. The best chance of the second half fell to
Deeping who regained the lead through striker Jordan Watson who managed to hold
off the approaching defender and toe poke the ball into the empty net for his
second goal. As minutes ticked by towards the final whistle Netherton were
awarded a penalty which was taken by Marcio Martins who confidently put it away
to equalise and share the spoils on the day.
Jason
Chatham, Deeping coach said “This game had everything apart from a winner
although both teams battled through out to make it an entertaining match full
of incident. We need to take more control when we are in the lead and keep
concentrating as silly mistakes cost us. I was pleased with the tempo at the
start but we need to keep to what we are good at”

started brightly and it was William Knight with an excellent solo effort who
gave the lead to Deeping after 10mins. Deeping continued to be dominant and
another fine cross by William Knight found George Venables who was unmarked six
yards from goal and he made no mistake. Deeping continued to press and Owen
Skinner scored after some intelligent work from David Stevenette whose perfect
pass found Skinner who fired a great shot into the net. Good positive play in
midfield from Jordan Watson allowed William Knight to fire home from twenty yards
leaving the ‘keeper nowhere. A fine run by Luke Parsons who won the ball in his
own half and advanced to inside the Whittlesey box found Jordan Watson at the
near post who calmly slotted home the fifth goal.

Glinton
Utd 1 Deeping Rangers 5
Deeping Rangers produced a great performance for their first win since before Christmas against local neighbours Glinton Utd. After an even first period, with Liam Reeve marshalling his defence superbly, Deeping opened the scoring with the goal of the game following a first time cross by Owen Skinner, Jake Bown volleyed home in the top near side corner from inside the penalty area. Deeping kept up the pressure and soon got a second when a sweeping move found Owen Skinner whose first time shot was parred by the Glinton ‘keeper but was first to force home the rebound. Deeping made it 3-0 just before half-time when Jake Brown who had time to turn inside and slide the ball past the ‘keeper. Glinton kept pressing forward to salvage something from the game and scored a consolation through a neat well taken goal. William Knight capped a great Rangers display when he ran on and crashed home Deeping’s fourth goal of the game. There was just time for Jake Brown to score a well deserved hat-trick and took home the match ball after he scored from a tap-in following good work from a Skinner shot that was blocked.
Deeping coach Paul Grundy said “The boys have responded well to
two successive defeats and put in a complete performance. Although Jake Brown was
lethal in front of goal, Liam Reeve didn’t put a foot wrong in defence and
stood firm against the Glinton front line all game. It was important to get
back to winning ways after a couple of setbacks and the lads responded very
well to some harsh lessons received recently”

Deeping Rangers 2 Gunthorpe
Harriers Navy 4
Gunthorpe maintained their position at the top of the table but
were pushed all the way by a spirited Deeping side who missed several changes
in the second half in a hard fought victory for Gunthorpe. In heavy conditions
both teams found it hard going to play any flowing football but Gunthorpe
scored the opening goal after splitting the Deeping defence. David Stevenette
restored to the left wing to give extra pace and width answered the Deeping SOS
with a cracking left foot cross that sneaked in off the far post to equalise.
In tricky conditions for both teams Gunthorpe restored their lead when
hesitation in the Deeping defence allowed a simple tap in to sneak the ball
home. Deeping switched off early in the second period when two quick further
goals extended the Gunthorpe lead. Deeping squandered several clear-cut chances
to force an equaliser and paid the price for switching off earlier in the game.
It was left to Deeping striker Jake Brown, with the goal of the match to
restore some pride to the scoreline with a twenty yard fantastic thunder bolt
which left the ‘keeper stranded.
Deeping coach Paul Grundy said “We played a well organised
outfit today and took them close but we lost concentration and let in two quick
goals early in the second half. This was a far better performance than last
week but we are in the middle a run that everything we do isn’t coming
off. Fair play to Gunthorpe who took their chances well today and deserve to be

Deeping Rangers left it late to edge a close encounter against Netherton Hawks with Jake Brown scoring deep in injury time to claim the important three points. Deeping found it hard to settle early on and found it difficult to find a way through a solid Netherton defence. A fine looping cross provided by William Knight fell kindly to Jake Brown at the far post to put Deeping 1-0 up midway through the first half. Netherton fought back with the impressive Marcio Martins at the centre of all Netherton play and it came to no surprise that Martins beat the Deeping defence to level the game with a well taken goal from just outside the penalty area. Both teams battled to sniff out the winner and with minutes left Brown was put through on the left hand side and his left footed shot beat the advancing ‘keeper to take the lead. Deeping held out and their rearguard which had on been on the back foot throughout the game with the impressive Ben Pennell outstanding ensured there was no further threat and never gave Netherton another sight of goal to record an important away win.
Stand-in Deeping coach Paul
Stevenette said “This was not a pretty victory and one that we had to grind out
and we were grateful to Jake Brown for a touch of class at the death to claim
the victory.

Jake
Brown immediately repaid the faith in Deeping Rangers by scoring a brace on his
return to the club which launched his career setting up a comfortable 4-0 to
the Outgang Road outfit. Both teams observed the traditional two minute silence
on Remembrance Sunday prior to kick off in windy conditions which made fluent
passing very difficult. Deeping started with high tempo from the outset with
striker Brown supported by the impressive William Knight and the determined
midfield pair of Jamie Sharpe and Matthew Bayham regularly penetrating the
Falcons defence. Deeping made a flying start when Knight found Brown who had
the easiest of chances to score the opening goal from close range. Another
teasing cross by Knight found the back of the net as Deeping continued to press
forward. Luke Parsons was able to pick out Brown who claimed his second after a
goalmouth scramble to make the scoreline 3-0 approaching half time. Netherton
were awarded a penalty when Rangers’ keeper Mark Grundy misjudged his last
ditched tackle on a Falcons forward. The resulting spot kick went wide much to
the relief of Grundy. Parsons provided the fourth with an inswinging corner as
Deeping squandered further chances to wrap the game up. Deeping ‘keeper Grundy
made some crucial point blank saves in the second half as Netherton attempted
to salvage the game without success. Jamie Sharpe had his best game of the
season with David Stevenette in confident mood as left back soaking up much of
the second half pressure.
Craig
Skinner, stand in Deeping coach said “What a start by the boy Brown on his
return to Outgang Road! – we were quick of the blocks and he finished as only
he could. The team are beginning to click after a stop start sequence of
matches to the season. This is a tough league but I want to be up there

Deeping Rangers 5 Netherton Hawks 1
Deeping Rangers cruised into the next
round of the League Cup with a convincing rout of Netherton Hawks after a
crushing first half performance. Manager Paul Grundy gave debuts to defender
Ben Pennell and striker Enrico Stella in the second half as Deeping booked
their passage through in a comfortable manner. In autumnal conditions both
teams enjoyed an equal share of possession in the early stages with Marcio
Martins in dominating mood for the Hawks’ as they searched for the opening
goal. A great run down the left wing before being tripped in the box by Owen
Skinner resulted in a cool penalty goal by the impressive William Knight. A
measured pass by Luke Parsons found William Knight who leashed a thunder-bolt
shot into the top right hand corner. Deeping defender Ben Aspinall was on the
mark with a great opportune goal which found the back of the net with some
speed to make it 3-0 in favour of Deeping. A fine run and looping cross by
William Knight found Jordan Watson at the far post to head home before the goal
of the game was scored by Jordan Watson with a 25 yard curling shot into the
top left hand corner. Netherton pulled a consolation goal back in the second
half by Marcio Martins as Deeping coach Paul Grundy used the opportunity to let
both Ben Pennell and Enrico Stella make their debuts as Deeping ran out worthy
winners.
Deeping Coach Paul Grundy said “The
boys were in impressive form in the first half and cruised into half time 5-0
up. It gave me an opportunity to look at both Ben Pennell and Enrico Stella as
the squad was looking rather thin approaching this game. The second half we sat

In a tight first half played at frenetic pace a rushed Rangers team took
a 1-0 lead mid way through the half when Jamie Sharpe pounced on a loose ball 8
yards from goal to blast home, despite plenty of pressure, Deeping struggled to
create any clear cut chances, due to good defending and wasteful
finishing.
After
a half-time team talk from manager Paul Grundy, Deeping started to mount a
series of attacks on the Blackstones goal from which Matt Baynham scored his
first goal, a left wing cross from Luke Parsons, which Matt tapped home, it
wasn’t long before Matt scored his second firing in from the edge of the area
despite the defenders best effort to clear on the line, it was soon to be a
hat-trick for Matt when Owen Skinner flicked a header on for Matt to run through
the middle and roll in his third goal. The best goal of the game came from a
flowing break down the right hand side Will Knight broke up a Blackstones
attack near the Rangers 18yard box he passed the ball inside to Matt who passed up the line to Owen who broke from his own half to race to the edge of
the Blackstones 6 yard box and crossed back to Jamie who fired in first time to
score his second goal of the match. With time running out it was the turn of
Ben Aspinall to get his name on the score sheet after receiving a pass from
Will on the edge of the area Ben turned and rifled home from the edge of the
box for his first of the season. Deeping Rangers progress to the next round of

Deeping Rangers 7
Bourne Town 1
Deeping
Rangers made it back to back victories after triumphing over local A15
neighbours Bourne Town in a eight goal thriller with man of the match Anthony
Garmory snatching six goals. In suburb sunny conditions Deeping played some
fantastic football through out the game and scored some glorious goals. Bourne
had no answer to control the impressive Garmory as he latched onto a through
ball that split the defence to coolly slot past the keeper for the opening
goal. Bourne responded and equalised from a well taken move that beat the
Deeping offside trap. Owen Skinner provided number two for Garmory as his
delightful pass found Garmory at the near post to knock the ball home to
restore the Deeping lead. Garmory completed a solo hat-trick by turning a
defender on the edge of the penalty box and sending a left foot shoot into the
top corner. Another weighted through ball beat the defence and Garmory finished
with a great strike from just inside the penalty area. Not to be left outdone,
fellow striker William Knight produced a touch of class and his great solo shot
found the back of the net. A fine cross from the right hand side found the
unmarked Garmory to tap in from close range. Garmory completed his goal tally
with his 6th of the game with another well taken shot following good
approach play.
Deeping
Coach Paul Grundy said “All the boys did very well and I was really pleased
with the performance. We signed a couple of new players in the close season who
are really on fire and both scored some great goals today. The headlines will
be all about Anthony Garmory’s personal goal tally but the team is improving
all the time and hopefully we can keep it up. Special praise goes to the back
four who soaked up a lot of pressure from the Bourne strikers. They are really
beginning to play like a strong unit and they dealt with everything that Bourne

Deeping Rangers were involved in a nine goal
thriller against rivals Whittlesey as both teams tried to match the Posh v
Bristol Rovers encounter the day before as they began the new season in style
and it was Deeping who finished just on top. Deeping debutant William Knight
stole the show with two well taken goals both from just outside the penalty
area together with some storming runs down the right wing which allowed Jordan
Watson to tap home the second goal and Owen Skinner to grab a brace following
hitting the post twice.
Deeping cruised to a 3-0 half time lead but some
sloppy second half defending nearly cost them the away win as Whittlesey fought
all the way and came very close to snatching a point.
Deeping Coach Craig Skinner said “All the boys
watched Posh in front of the Sky cameras yesterday and the match seemed to
follow the same script. We scored some great goals and were in command for
much of the first half but some sloppy defending let Whittlesey back in the
game and to be fair it was very tight at the end as they got back to within one
goal. Man of the match, William Knight was fantastic in the first half and slotted

Overall a good day for the team keeping a clean sheet throughout the tournament
and appearing to be worthy winners
